On Friday July 17, my wife and I were traveling down George Street in New Haven on the way to an appointment. As we approached the intersection of York Street, we noticed a lot of police cars in the rear parking lot of Walgreens. At the doctor’s office we were told there had been a shooting but didn’t know any more about it. The next day in the New Haven Register it said the victim had died from his wounds. A police captain reported that investigators are conducting a death investigation and they believe it is an isolated incident. He went on to say “there is no danger to the public.”
Now think about this, a shooting in broad daylight at 10 a.m. at one of the busiest sections of New Haven and one block from Yale New Haven Hospital and you don’t think this is a danger to the public. Isolated incident or not this is a very scary situation.
