INTERVIEW | Van Rooyen defends Labat’s cannabis move, dismisses ‘zombie business’ calls

Over the past three years, Labat Africa Group founder and CEO Brian van Rooyen has been putting the company on the path to becoming the country’s largest cannabis player.

It is one of a number of countries – including Lesotho, Canada and the US – that have eased legalising the use of cannabis for medicinal and in some cases, recreational use.

It’s a sales pitch that has proven difficult to sell.
